Sciatica Treatment with Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression in san franciscoWe have been providing relief for sciatica symptoms in downtown San Francisco since 1992.

Sciatica is a symptom not a cause. Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve or nerve roots, which originate in the lumbar spine and travel down the leg become irritated and inflamed. When this happens it typically causes pain that travels down one or both legs, usually one. There can be associated numbness, tingling or weakness. Sometimes there is back pain and sometimes there isn’t.

The most common cause of sciatica is a herniated or bulging disc in the low back. Although, the pain associated can be severe and debilitating, it’s also the type of problem that can be brought under control within a few weeks. Chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy, and exercise can help with sciatica symptoms. But in reality, they are just treating the symptoms and not the cause.

About 9 years ago we began to incorporate nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 into our herniated and bulging disc treatment protocols. We were the first to offer these services in San Francisco. Since then we have performed more than 20,000 decompression sessions to thousands of disc patients, and the results have been outstanding.

Spinal Decompression machines are designed and built to treat lumbar disc herniations, bulges, facet syndrome, degenerative disc disease, and spinal stenosis…all sciatica causes, naturally.

Disc decompression therapy with the DRX elongates the spine, enlarges the disc space, re-hydrates the injured spinal disc and re-positions the herniated disc fragments away from the nerve roots and spinal cord and back to the center of the disc. Does it do this every time? NO…just most of the time. No treatment is 100% effective. However, spinal decompression IS 100% natural. No drugs, No surgery. Either it works or it doesn’t (rare). In the rare event the DRX fails to deliver results, you are still whole and can pursue other treatment options. The DRX is very very safe…and effective.

To find out if you are a candidate for sciatica treatment in San Francisco please call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation.

Spinal Decompression Just Makes Sense!

San Francisco Spinal Decompression Doctor Comments:

Md_news_photos_011 We purchased our first nonsurgical spinal decompression machine about 6 years ago. The machines we use are the DRX9000 lumbar decompression system, and the DRX9000c cervical decompression system…but there are many fine decompression systems in the marketplace.

I like to think of spinal decompression as a respirator for the spinal discs. A respirator helps the lungs to breath when they are unable to do so on their own until they can. Spinal decompression helps the discs to breath and heal until they can function in a more normal fashion.

When spinal discs are functioning properly they are constantly taking in fresh nutrients and oxygen from the blood and expelling waste products. When they are injured (disc bulge, disc herniation, disc degeneration) they are unable to do this and lose the ability to function properly.

The herniated disc fragments or a bulging disc can put pressure on the spinal cord and nerves causing severe pain and loss of function.

Spinal decompression systems isolate on a specific spinal disc level…say L5 (the most common disc herniation) and help the disc to do what it would do if it could…until it is healthy enough to do it on it's own…just like a respirator does for the lungs.

How long this takes depends on the severity of the condition, whether or not there are multiple disc herniations, the age of the patient, the over-all health of the patient, and if there are any complications…such as scoliosis or advanced spinal degeneration.

Success rates are outstanding…and nonsurgical spinal decompression is very safe and gentle…most patients fall asleep during treatments.

So what's the downside? Well…it is possible to go through the entire spinal decompression program (which is 20-28 sessions at our clinic) and not get better. It's possible…it's just not likely.

In fact…I can't remember the last patient that did not respond favorably to lumbar decompression or cervical decompression at our San Francisco Decompression Center.

So anyway…will spinal decompression work for you? Only one way to find out…you have to try it!

If you would like to find out if you qualify for spinal decompression therapy at our San Francisco Spinal Decompression clinic, call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation.

Best Treatment for a Pinched Nerve in the Neck

San Francisco Chiropractor

Pinched nerve in the neck

Have you been diagnosed with a pinched nerve in the neck? If so, you most likely have pressure on a spinal nerve root as it is exiting from in between the cervical vertebrae. A pinched cervical nerve root is usually caused by a herniated disc or a bulging disc.

Sometimes degeneration of the spine or degeneration of the disc can cause bone spurs or bony growth that can encroach upon the environment of the nerve resulting in a condition called spinal stenosis or foraminal stenosis.

The symptoms of a pinched nerve in the neck vary from person to person and can include neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, arm pain, hand pain, pain that radiates from the neck down the arm, numbness and tingling in the fingers, weakness of grip, and night pain.

In fact, you can have a pinched cervical nerve and have no symptoms in the neck at all, but have symptoms in the hand. This makes it tricky sometimes as the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS) can mimic the symptoms of a pinched nerve in the neck. Some patients actually have both CTS and pinched nerves in the neck.

The good news is, we can treat most disc herniations and disc bulges, as well as spinal degeneration and CTS without drugs or surgery.

cervical decompression therapy san francisco
At our San Francisco Chiropractic facilities, as well as at other chiropractic clinics around the world, a combination of chiropractic care, nonsurgical spinal decompression, Active Release Technique (ART), and Deep Tissue Laser Therapy, is used to successfully treat most of the primary causes of  pinched nerves in both the neck and low back.

Many patients end up on a wild goose chase trying to figure out the right kind of treatment for a pinched nerve or carpal tunnel syndrome, which can often times lead to cortisone shots, pain meds, and unnecessary surgery.

So, how would you know if you qualify for nonsurgical treatment for your herniated disc in the neck, bulging disc, or spinal stenosis? Well, the best way to find out is to get checked by a doctor that specializes in treating herniated discs without surgery.

We are one of the only clinics in the SF Bay Area to offer cervical decompression therapy with the DRX9000c…a very expensive machine that is designed and built to treat herniated and bulging discs in the neck.

If you live or work near the San Francisco Financial District you can visit Executive Express Chiropractic at the Embarcadero Center. Call 415-392-2225.

Or, you can check my recommended list for chiropractors at various locations around the US who do something similar.

You can always send me an email to ebendavis@yahoo.com and I will try to make my best recommendation for a doctor near you.

Please do not think that there is no hope for you or that surgery is your only option. Take the time to educate yourself and find a doctor that has the skills and advanced technology to help you get better.

Back Pain Relief in San Francisco

San Francisco Back Pain Doctor Comments:

Back Pain Relief San Francisco
We have been treating back pain in San Francisco for over 18 years now at Executive Express Chiropractic (formerly Front Street Chiropractic).

One thing for sure…there is a lot of back pain out there. In fact…85% of the population experiences a severe bout of back pain at some point in their lives.

Many people in San Francisco suffer with chronic back pain…which is back pain that lasts longer than 3 months. The #1 risk factor for chronic back pain, is previous back pain. This is why it is so important not to ignore back pain. Back pain is a warning sign…a signal that something is not right.

Symptoms such as back pain only occur when there is damaged tissue. And the damaged tissue must reach a threshold (which is different in everyone) in order for the brain to perceive it and cause pain.

The back pain itself is not the problem…the problem is the damaged tissue and what is causing it.

Most back pain is "of unknown origin", so it can be hard to pin-point the cause.

There are various conditions that can cause back pain. Conditions such as vertebral subluxation, herniated discs, bulging discs, disc degeneration, piriformis syndrome, muscle spasms, short leg syndromes, facet syndromes, muscle strain/sprain, and more.

At our San Francisco Back Pain Relief Center, we are able to offer solutions to most of the back pain patients we treat, including acute and chronic conditions.

We use various combinations of gentle chiropractic adjustments, Active Release Technique (ART), Graston technique, massage, stretching, exercise, deep tissue laser therapy, nonsurgical spinal decompression, and TLC, to achieve favorable outcomes.

Some cases are simple and resolve in a week or so. Some chronic low back pain conditions take months to resolve…and everything in between.

It's our job to take your case history, subjective complaints, and objective findings, and come up with a treatment plan that makes sense to give you back pain relief. And we do it well.

The moral of the story is this: DO NOT IGNORE BACK PAIN.

You do not want your back pain (or your friends and family) to become chronic and haunt you for the rest of your life. Chronic back pain can be prevented with early intervention.

If you already have chronic back pain, then you should visit a chiropractor, physical therapist, or back pain relief doctor, that understands and treats back pain day in and day out.

Most of the time back pain is an easy fix…so it does not pay to ignore it.  Do the right thing and see your back pain doctor. You will be glad you did.

To schedule an appointment for back pain treatment at  Executive Express Chiropractic call 415-392-2225.

Cervical Disc Herniation Treatment Options

San Francisco Herniated Disc Doctor Comments:

Drx9000c san francisco
We have been helping patients with neurovascular compression syndromes of the cervical spine for over 18 years in the San Francisco Financial District (Executive Express Chiropractic, formerly Front Street Chiropractic). Some of the conditions we treat are cervical disc bulges, cervical stenosis, degenerative disc disease (DDD), and facet syndromes.

For the most we have been using our unique brand of spinal orthodontics which includes chiropractic adjustments, spinal traction, Active Release Techniques (ART), exercise, and patient education.

About 4 years ago we added nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000c (cervical spine disc repair) to the mix. We did this to improve our cervical disc treatment outcomes. Most would respond to our conventional treatment, but there was a subset of herniated disc patients that did respond…about 10-15%…which is still a big number.

The DRX9000c is able to isolate on a specific spinal segment, say C5-C6, and target a herniated disc. The DRX9000c enlarges the disc space, re-positions the disc, elongates the cervical spine, stretches the spinal ligaments, and creates a negative pressure which actually helps to pull the herniated disc fragments off the spinal cord and cervical nerve roots (which is what causes the pain and dysfunction).  Cold laser is also built into the treatment process which helps to reduce inflammation, pain, and swelling.

Cervical decompression therapy with the DRX takes about 20-26 sessions over a 6-8 week period. The sessions are 1 hour long and include muscle stimulation and ice. There is an extensive in house and home care exercise program to rehabilitate the spine and teach the muscles to work with the spine in it's new position.

Does the DRX9000c help every single herniated disc patient that does the treatment? NO…just most of them. But here's the deal…If the DRX9000c does not help you at least you are still whole. Nothing has been cut out of you or fused…or injected into your body, and you can still pursue other treatment options. The DRX9000c is very safe and gentle. But you still have to qualify medically…not everyone does.

Anyway…we have had enormous success with the DRX9000c in San Francisco, and we can't imagine practicing without it at this point. Is the DRX9000c for you? Maybe…what you have to do is give us a call and make an appointment. Bring any x-rays, MRI's or reports you have about your condition, and we will let you know. It might just be the best decision you ever made.

To find out if you are a candidate for care at Executive Express Chiropractic at the SF Embarcadero Center…call 415-392-2225 or request an appointment online.

If you do not live in the SF Bay Area, you can find a DRX9000c doctor near you at www.axiomworldwide.com.

DRX9000 Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression: A Respirator For The Spine

San Francisco Chiropractor and Herniated Disc Doctor Comments:

DRX9000 I came up with this analogy a while back:

Spinal Decompression is to the spine, what a respirator is to the lungs.

Spinal decompression helps the spine to do what it would if it could…just like a respirator helps the lungs to do what they would do on their own if they could.

DRX9000 nonsurgical decompression therapy to the lumbar or cervical spine (DRX9000c) recreates the pumping action on the isolated/targeted disc that occurs under normal conditions. It's this pumping action by the spine on the discs that keep them healthy and hydrated. In fact…this pumping/absorption action has it's own name…Imbibition.

The DRX9000 lumbar disc repair system and the DRX9000c cervical disc repair system are designed and built to help re-create imbibition, elongate the spine, re-position the spinal disc, and promote herniated disc repair.

Is this possible? It must be because most of the herniated disc patients we treat at our San Francisco Spinal Decompression center achieve favorable outcomes.

Is there research to support the DRX9000? There is very favorable preliminary research that was done at the Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins University, and Duke University. The results are summarized in this Special Report on Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression.

Will the DRX9000 or DRX9000c work for me? There's only one way to find out, and that's to actually go through the decompression treatment protocol. But unlike surgery…if the DRX fails to deliver you are left whole. Nothing removed. Nothing cut into. No Drugs. No needles.

So should I do it? That's up to you. But you do need to qualify medically…not everyone does.

To find out if you are a candidate for care at Executive Express Chiropractic's Financial District Spinal Decompression Center…call 415-392-2225 or request an appointment online.

Why Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression with the DRX9000?

San Francisco Chiropractor and Herniated Disc Doctor Comments:

DRX9000 spinal decompression San Francisco We are often asked at Executive Express Chiropractic…Why would someone pay $5000 out of their own pocket for the DRX9000 when the insurance companies don't want to pay for it?

Well, because what the insurance companies will pay for is not necessarily the best option, that's why. And, nonsurgical spinal decompression attracts a certain kind of patient…usually very educated…they do their homework. And after the homework is done, they decide to give it a shot, because what's the worst that can happen?

The worst that can happen is it does not help them and they are out some time and money (maybe some soreness)…and they know that. But the thing is…they are still whole. Nothing was removed from the body. Nothing was put into the body. There was no anesthesia. There were no drugs or chemicals. It just did not work.

But this is not what typically happens. For the most part disc herniation patients that qualify medically for nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 (see DRX9000 Special Report for study results) achieve favorable outcomes and are happy campers. Patients with lumbar and cervical disc herniations, disc bulges, spinal stenosis, and disc degeneration, can all be potential candidates for the DRX9000.

What we have found at Executive Express Chiropractic is this…Often times it takes more than just spinal decompression to repair a bad back. Maybe the patient needs to lose some weight also and modify their diet to get the joint inflammation down. Maybe we need to incorporate some chiropractic adjustments and Active Release Techniques (ART) into the treatment plan. Maybe some cold laser or special exercises…all cases are treated different.

One thing for sure…we keep getting better and better results the more spinal decompression patients we treat. So…if you live or work near the San Francisco Financial District and would like to find out if you are a candidate for nonsurgical spinal decompression with the DRX9000 we have a few options for you:

1. Call 415-392-2225 to schedule a complimentary consultation.

2. Schedule an appointment online.

3. Just stop by and ask for a tour of the DRX9000.

San Francisco Disc Herniation Treatment with the DRX9000

San Francisco Spinal Decompression Doctor Comments:

MD News Photos 011 We have been practicing our unique brand of chiropractic in the SF Financial District for over 17 years now. We specialize in the nonsurgical treatment of chronic back, neck, and wrist pain.

The name of our clinic is Executive Express Chiropractic(formerly Front Street Chiropractic) and we are located at the landmark Embarcadero Center near the Ferry Building.

About 4 years ago we purchased our first nonsurgical spinal decompression system…the DRX9000. We wanted to improve upon our ability to treat serious neck and back conditions such as herniated discs, bulging discs, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease. Sure, we already had great success treating these kinds of conditions…but sadly, about 10-15% of the patients we would treat just would not respond.

I had been researching nonsurgical spinal decompression and I finally decided to pull the trigger and purchase a DRX9000 system. Well, since then we have treated hundreds of cervical and lumbar disc herniation patients successfully. Along with facet syndromes, disc bulges, disc degeneration, and stenosis.

Are we happy?…YES. Are these patients happy?…YES. Does the DRX9000 decompression treatment help everyone that does it?…NO.

While spinal decompression in my opinion is the most advanced nonsurgical disc herniation treatment in the marketplace…it's NOT a MAGIC BULLET. In fact…it's quite a bit of work. Patients come for 20-30 one hour sessions along with all kinds of home care and exercises.

What is the success rate?…very good. Check out the DRX9000 Special Report, which is a compilation of preliminary research done by the Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins and Duke Universities…it's very impressive.

So anyway…will it work for you? I don't know…and neither does anyone else…you have to find out for yourself. Read the report…do some homework…and then decide. Of course you have to find yourself a doctor that does spinal decompression with the DRX9000 or DRX9000c (cervical decompression). You can do this at www.axiomworldwide.com. They have a doctor finder.

If you live or work in the SF Bay Area…you can contact our downtown San Francisco Spinal Decompression Center at 415-392-2225 or request an appointment online. We offer a complimentary consultation.

Back Pain That Comes and Goes?

San Francisco Chiropractor Comments:

Images[1] If you have back pain that comes and goes…and it's always in the same spot…chances are it's because of pressure on the nervous system. The source of the pressure is most likely a vertebral subluxation, a bulging or herniated disc…or degenerative disc disease…or spinal stenosis.

How do you know this…couldn't it be tight muscles or something else?

Yeah…I guess it could…but in my (17 years as a San Francisco Chiropractor) experience that's usually not the case. Yes…there are muscle spasms associated with any of the neurovascular compression syndromes listed above…but the muscle spasms are not the primary cause.

Sure, you can pull a muscle in your back doing something…then it goes away…that's not what we're talking about here. We are talking about the same kind of back pain, in the same location, that keeps reoccurring.

Don't get me wrong…muscle spasms, scar tissue, and fibrosis must be addressed also…we do this with Active Release Techniques (ART).

Typically…when a neurovascular compression syndrome is left uncorrected…it continues to get worse over time…so the frequency of episodes increases, as does the intensity of the pain…and the duration of each episode.

So…what should I do if this is happening to me?

Well…you should find yourself a good chiropractor. The best way to find a chiropractor is word of mouth or online research. I write this blog as an educational tool for my existing patients and staff…and to help give prospective chiropractic patients information that they can use to help understand the benefits of modern chiropractic care.

Sure…if you live or work in the SF Bay Area, we would like you to see us. We are located at the Embarcadero Center in downtown San Francisco. The name of our clinic is Executive Express Chiropractic. To schedule an appointment with one of our San Francisco Chiropractors please call 415-392-2225.

Is Spinal Disc Herniation Fixable?

San Francisco Spinal Decompression Doctor Comments:

Md_news_photos_011 Up until recently, it was  thought that a herniated disc in the neck…or a herniated disc in the low back could not be repaired without surgery.

Now, it is widely accepted that nonsurgical spinal decompression of the lumbar spine or cervical spine can help a disc herniation heal naturally. It’s pretty amazing if you think about it.

Sure decompression therapy will not help every single patient that does it…but nothing else will either.

We have been treating patients at my San Francisco Spinal Decompression clinics for over 3 years now…and the results have been outstanding. Some patients return to normal, some become a lot better than they were, some a little better…and some do not respond at all (rare).

I’m not sure what the overall success rates are…but it’s pretty darn good.

According to preliminary research currently underway at the Mayo Clinic, John Hopkins and Duke Universities…spinal decompression is the nonsurgical treatment of the future for disc herniations, disc bulges, facet syndromes, and disc degeneration.

The spinal decompression machine used for the research was the DRX9000…the machine we have used at our SF Bay Area Chiropractic Centers.

There is a  Spinal Decompression Special Report on the findings of this study that is very interesting. Check it out and let me know what you think.

If you would like to find out if you are a candidate for spinal decompression at Executive Express Chiropractic at the San Francisco Embarcadero Center…simply call 415-392-2225 and ask for a complimentary consultation with Dr. Eben Davis.
