Disc Regeneration. Is it possible ?

Ano0371 So, what’s the deal…Can spinal discs really be repaired? Can a herniated disc regenerate? How is this possible? Here’s my take on situation, for whatever it’s worth:

Intervertebral discs are living tissue just like the rest of the body. Sure, it is more difficult for them to stay healthy and nourished because they are avascular (no direct blood supply). The spinal discs depend on spinal motion to stay hydrated and nourished, this process is called imbibition. It’s the pumping action that it necessary for the exchange of nutrients between the discs (via capillaries in the vertebrae) and the bloodstream.  When the vertebrae lose their proper alignment (vertebral subluxation) the joints get stuck and the spinal discs are unable to receive the nutrients from the blood stream. This sets the stage for Degenerative Disc Disease (DDD), Disc Hernaitions and Osteoarthritis (abnormal wear and tear of the bones and joints). We grade these subluxation complexes I-IV. Depending on your age, any complicating factors,  and level of disc disease, we are often times able to regenerate the injured or herniated spinal discs.

So, our main treatment objective is to restore spinal motion to the spine. We can accomplish this with gentle chiropractic adjustments, massage, physical therapy, and special exercises. We start off very gently, and build up the intensity as we move forward. In the event that you do not respond, or you are just to sore and deconditioned to handle the treatment, then we consider nonsurgical decompression on the DRX9000. The DRX 9000 is like a respirator for spinal discs. It helps the spine to do "what it would if it could". Just like a respirator helps the lungs, until they can breath on their own. The DRX9000 helps the discs to breath and exchange nutrients with the bloodstream. So, to the extent that it is possible (there are limitations of matter), the discs are able to rehydrate and heal. In fact, a negative pressure is actually created that can help pull herniated disc fragments back into the center of the disc and off the spinal nerve or spinal cord. So, yes, in my opinion it IS possible for herniated discs to heal and regenerate.  It is also possible to slow down or even stop the abnormal degeneration process. It’s all about lifestyle choices and the right kind of treatments.

    I must agree with the author that yes it is possible to slow down or even stop the degenerative process. I have a herniated disc C5 and C6. I was given full pain protocol treatment and was admitted to a spinal hospital for this. I was the placed on a program which was developed in Finland and is available on 5 continents and in 22 countries. The program is called DBC
    (Documentation Based Care)Treatment is performed by doctors, physiotherapists and biokineticians. The program run for 12 sessions over 6 weeks.
    It has worked for me and I feel fine. It has now been 2 months since I completed the DBC program.
    I would suggest that patients with spinal herniations seek this type of treatment before considering surgery.I live in South Africa, I am 54 yrs and I am male.
